I've been getting these emails for weeks and each gets immediately reported to CERT and Spamcop. Why on earth would anybody open an email with a link inside with a .ru address? For those that don't know...thats Russia. As with most things from Russia there is no love contrary to popular movie lore.

This just started Yesterday so you might be talking about something else. The senders were not from ru they were actuall co-workers etc. etc.

Whats funny is I have a friend that works for comcast and they haven't been able to fix it all day and all you have to do is put a filter on your e-mail firewall.

Nope...the emails have been circulating for weeks. Only in the last few days have they gotten to the point of being really annoying. You are infected by an email that has nothing more than a simple statement and then a link. If you look at the link in almost all of the cases its a .ru While this just made the news today...it's old news...the infection rate however has gone through the roof because people are really freakin stupid. I can forward you all the emails if you want Twisted Evil

Remember...you aren't infected until you click on the link and visit the website. Once infected it goes crazy with your address book and sends the same link to everyone from YOU. Then they get stupid and click on the link and so on and so on.

Like I said....people are freakin stupid and click on links in emails....bad...very bad...and very stupid.

Why this just started making news today escapes me because we've known about it for at least two weeks. CERT's been logging this all along and there is a special SPAMCOP monitoring filter for it.

No virus here but plenty of those emails during the past few days. For a while I thought I ended up on same damned spam list but since I never click on email links no problems here.
